Default USB and Adding AUX and 12V

I have been searching the forum like a mad man, but can't seem to find the solution to my problem.

I have a 2010 Ram 1500 SLT Big Horn... it HAS the upper glove box door with light, but no USB plug. I could not find the USB that others have behind the box, but didn't spend a ton of time searching. The radio doesn't say UConnect anywhere but DOES have the phone button and a button of a person talking right next to it. Bluetooth, I could take it or leave it.... I would rather install an additional AUX and 12V plug in the upper dash so phone or ipod could charge and play while wires remain out of sight and out of mind. I can always use a bluetooth headset if I really wanted.
1) Can I tie in to the available AUX behind dash and add an extra one in upper dash?
2) How hard would it be to add an extra 12V plug in upper dash?
3) Would it be a cheaper/easier option to just add a USB in there? If so, how can I do it if there is no USB plug already present?

Photos are appreciated.

I would say just go ahead and look into buying an aftermarket headset that would suit your purposes.

I have the 12v lighter plug on one side that is aux. on and off with the car then I have a 12v constant on the passenger side sig. lighter that I just put in a plug that changes it to USB can find them a radio shack on amazon or ebay. I'VE Not seen a newer ram that didn't have both 12v pugs one on each side of the lower dash

The USB connector became a supported feature in 2011. You mentioned that you have the Uconnect buttons on the radio, do you have the Uconnect system in your vehicle? Press the Uconnect phone button, do you hear a voice prompt or is there a message displayed about Uconnect not being available? If you don't have the Uconnect system, you can install it and the optional USB / iPod cable (PN 82212159 <kit> 82212160 <cable>) you can find these parts for about 250 - $300 online. Then after the installation you'll need to have the vehicle flashed with sales code "RSP". You'll want to call around to get the best price, it'll range from 50 - $100.

The other option would be to replace the radio with an aftermarket radio.

I would prefer to just add an extra AUX and an Extra 12V plug in to the upper dash. This would allow me to solve a ton of problems. I am really wondering if there is a way I can tie in to the AUX port from behind the dash to possibly split it off and run it up in to the upper dash cleanly. Adding a hidden 12V plug should be the easy part. I just hate all the dang wires plugged in to the front of dash.

this is not possible as there is not any AUX connections on the back of the radio. The only AUX input is on the front of the radio. The way Uconnect sends the AUX audio signals to the radio is that it sends a CAN signal for the radio to go into an AUX mode then Uconnect sends an analog audio signal to that AUX input. So you would need to build a CAN simulator that would send the message to the radio. Basically a no go for the way you want to do it.

To heck with that.... the more I look in to what it all would cost, I think I am just going to put an after-market double din in there with GPS and Bluetooth... this would eliminate phone wires, GPS wires, and I can even add a reverse camera. I have read through many of the double din posts and seems there still has to be some modifications made to the dash for install. Has anyone found any double dins that cleanly fit in the opening?

I'm looking at a few $300 models.... but another $180 for install... would love to keep it all under $400.
