Default Faulty Gas Cap?

We have a 2010 Ram 1500, QC Sport 4x4, 5.7 Hemi (120 liter gas tank). Well the wife is the normal driver for the pick up, so it took me a while to notice a trend.

About 3 months ago the service engine light came on and so i decided its time to change spark plugs and air filter, so had a free saturday afternoon and changed them all.

but then a week later the light came on again, i thought hmmm weird, told the wife to fill with premium maybe she got a bad tank of gas and the premium would dilute it. within the same day the light went off, so thought ok great.

another week goes by and the light comes on again, thought well maybe gas again, so told wife same thing fill with premium and to stop filling at what ever gas station she was using.

and a week goes by and the light comes on again, she swears shes only goes to place i told her to go. so she fills up again and light goes off.

so this whole cycle been going on for a couple months, but it seems that when ever the tank is less than half full the light comes on. fill truck the light goes off until tank is less than half then comes on again. is this possible? is there something i can do myself to fix.

thank you all

Cheers!

You may have a problem with the electronic gauge and/or sender unit. The near identical thing happened on my 02' Sanoma. The fuel sender unit was the culprit. Replaced and no code or issues again.

Or your issue may be something altogether different....

A code would be great help, yes.
