Default Trailer brake issue.

I have an 07 mega cab hemi and have used the 7 way plug quite a bit in the past few years with no problem. However the last time I took the camper out, the trailer brakes would "pulse" on and off quick a few times while braking. The truck brakes would work normally, but the trailer would almost lock the tires for a split second while under normal braking. I replaced the brake controller with a different model and still have the same issue. The LED light will go orange for how I have it set while braking, but something in the truck causes a short and the LED will flash red, to indicate full brake power. I have checked the visible wiring to make sure this wasn't a short between the brake wire and the brake light wire. I am thinking its the brake controller within the truck but have no idea where to start looking.

Thanks for the help.

I have had similar issues in the past, but it is because of the adaptors that I have. I have one that works properly and another that I thought was the same but is wired differently. Even though it looks the exact same to the eye. I guess that there are several different wiring schematics on different trailers and the adaptor plug has to match. For me it was a simple matter of picking up the wrong one out of my box to use. Good luck.

Default Pulsing trailer brakes

Check the trailer side plug. Had same problem and drove me nuts. I happened to check the trailer plug and found a broken wire connector inside the plug. The broken piece would rattle around enough to make intermittent contact with the brake terminal. That caused full brakes. I removed the piece and every thing worked fine. I replaced the plug when I got home.
