No, the plastic is not replaceable. It is epoxied on. If damaged, you have to replace the whole rim I hear.

Has anyone ever taken the plastic off and looked at what the aluminum rim looks like under it? Wondering how it looks and if it would powder coat well?

Yes I knew, that is what chrome clad is. The dealership I bought mine from has warrentied mine three times, they pit and corrode around the outer edge. I am looking for another set of rims for the summer months, and will use the chrome clad wheel for winter. When cleaned up they do look nice

Didn't know they were plastic; didn't research "chrome clad" ... imho, "clad" means wrapped around; not glued to the face of. My experience with chroming something or getting something that's been chrome dipped is to have chromium electroplated onto metal; or atleast until recently I had assumed only onto metal.

Yes, I was disappointed my "chrome rims" were really aluminum with a plastic cover. I do feel that for the price point, I should have received something not so "pretend". However, it's not just chrome-paint on a plastic hubcap glued to an aluminum wheel.

They look good, clean up easy and as someone else already said; they'll make nice winter rims.

I knew the wheels on my 2012 Sport were chrome clad. So far (touch wood) I've had no issues and we use lots of road salt up here in the winter. That said I'd be interested to know why the 2013 Ram Sport has swapped back to 20" alloys.

Sorry, they are not mine and don't recall who did it.

I would imagine it would take a good sized crow bar,
and the covers would be completely destroyed in the process
