Default radio upgrade

I have a 2011 Ram with the stock head unit. I would like to upgrade it to have the Bluetooth so I can answer my phone with it. Any info on this would be appreciated.

You looking at upgrading the head unit and adding bluetooth or just adding bluetooth to your current head unit?

i am on vacation & i don't have my notes with me

what are the 3 letters on your radios face, lower right corner, near the AUX. port
there were 5 stock radios for your Ram, i won't go into a lot of detail
the top of the line RHR ? had bluetooth built into the unit
the next 3 had to have a external Module to make bluetooth work
the last one, the RES with no phone button also had an external module, & it was different then the other module

these stock external modules are expensive

you could almost buy a good aftermarket radio for just the price of the module
then spend the same amount to buy a RBZ stock radio ( without NAV ) & you are spending over $600

If i were you, i would look at the crutchfield website
fill out the form for your model vehicle & see what is a direct fit with all the add ons that you want or need
most of them are plug & play

What I will add is that the stock head unit will be more expensive, but easier to install because the truck was wired to work with the stock units. I installed a Kenwood, but I had to run the voice pickup and I also had to buy a few adapters to get the Sirius to work and things like that. Even though the head units say "Sirius ready", does not mean that they are plug and play.

I still say aftermarket would be the way to go, but do your research...

he has the 2011 Tradesman
so chances are that he has one of the
RES 130 HIGH SPEED radios

the one without the phone icon button is not worth just adding the external module & that particular module is exclusive to that RES radio

the other RES 130 radio has the phone icon hard key & it uses the same external module as the RBZ 430 & the other 430 NAV radio
this is that module, look at the price !!!

now if this member is ok with their radio, they could go another way,
i have used this PARROT product before & was really impressed, i like it better then my OEM bluetooth in my '09

i would have a stereo guy install it
http://oemautopartsco.com/products/c...ooth-kit-gen-3

personally i used the PARROT hands free device called the
PARROT CK3100 LCD

http://www.parrot.com/usa/products/b...-free-car-kits
just pick the one with the options that you would like to have

I've been using a Motorolla bluetooth speaker phone gizmo in my truck for the past couple of years. It works great, and I've had very few issues with it, and the best part is that it was cheap... I think I got mine for about $40 3 or 4 yrs ago.

Here is a link to something similar at Amazon.

good luck
