Well I checked and (to my surprise) there ISN'T any documention for this!

I had asked for this info to be added to the 2013 owner's manual, but apparently that didn't happen. I checked the dealer service information, and that also calls for fluid and filter changes at 60K and 120K miles (60K for police, fleet, taxi, and frequent trailer tow only), and makes no distinction between the 6-speed and 8-speed trans (it is supposed to say "six-speed only").

So I just sent an e-mail to the group that publishes the service information, asking them to correct this. So hopefully within a few weeks, the dealer info will be updated. My apologies for the confusion!

By the way, the 2014 owner's manuals HAVE been corrected, and they will read (for the 8-speed trans): "Under normal operating conditions, the fluid installed at the factory will provide satisfactory lubrication for the life of the vehicle. Routine fluid and filter changes are not required. However, change the fluid and filter if the fluid becomes contaminated (with water, etc.), or if the transmission is disassembled for any reason."

I never bought into that "lifetime tranny fluid" garbage.

Change it at 60k intervals, at minimum. cheap insurance in my mind.

AFT, like every other lubricant on the market, will eventually wear out.

Couldn't agree more, even the best fluids breakdown!
