Totally amazing if there were no serious injuries. One of the benefits of driving a truck!!

thats some impact to knock off the bed cover!

this is why we dont text and drive people, unfortunately most wont learn until it directly affects them.

Well said, Kc! I just will never get the crack pipe-like addiction some people have to these phones and texting. They are so hooked on texting their friend what they just ate for lunch, that they will willingly ignore such things as... oh, lets say hurling a 5,000 lb. truck down the road 6 feet away from someone else doing the same thing in the opposite direction!! Boggles the imagination.

I really hate seeing stuff like this, just glad nobody was hurt. Wow, surprised it ripped that cover right off. Scary.

This crash makes me wonder about my cover. I mean I know I don't plan on ever getting into a wreck like this but good thing it didn't fly toward the cab or somehow hit another car. Those things are very heavy you know!

Wow!

There's no way on God's good Earth that cover was mounted properly and/or locked in the down position....

They weigh a tonne and do NOT come off easily at all, with hinge points that are VERY secure and sturdy. Anyone who's ever had to remove one will know exactly what I'm saying. It's a bitch! I removed my 05' Ford Screw's ARE cover off one time to bring home a refridgerator and swore I would never do it again. I didn't.

Unless they have changed the mounting hardware on fiberglass bed covers where they're flimsy now, I can't believe that cover flew off as it appears to have.

Unfortunately, this type of accident scene is an all too common call for [us] First Responders in this day-n-age.

Take the pledge and get your family and friends to do the same thing..... please.

Excellent post, Grub. To me, this is on par with drinking and driving. One person, the drunk, has no faculties to make any decipherable decision on what they see out of the windshield, let alone to react to such. Moreover, the texter may have quick, cognizant glimpses of the road ahead, but this is rendered useless with the constant distractions of texting. The drunk is looking out of one eye, the texter has NO eyes on the road ahead.
