It is quite clear in the warranty booklet. "Have the free inspection done within 60 days before or after your 5 year ownership date" I have had 60 years of dealing with the big three ( Ford bought back a Mercury Marquis and a LTD under extended warranties and paid full price for the cars plus sales tax ,licence fees and the cost of the warranties and only charged me 10 cents a mile used in both cases) If you fail to have the coupon in your book signed, ---fugedaboudit! they will laugh at you and your story about how the staff said "it dosent matter " They will deny any claim they can and this only take an hour to do and it is free. My first date is July 2 of this year and the last is Nov 1 and I will ger it done--Why not?

Default Warranties

I bought the lifetime bumper to bumper on my 2013. I've had it for a month and haven't received a coupon's book. All they told me was keep all the receipts for your oil changes & whatever service you have done on it. Nothing about a 100,000 miles or 5 year check. Guess I'd better start investigating this?

A dodge dealership does all of my Services like oil changes
i even bring my own oil & filter
they can never back out of my Lifetime Drivetrain Warranty, because they are the only ones checking it out
I did have my transmission serviced by a ASE Certified shop
Dodge Parts Dept brought the tranny filters out to the shop
i kept those records in case they say that it was never serviced
i am now at 85,000 miles +

in about 7 weeks i will be at approximately 93,000 miles

Default There are two lifetime warranties

There are two "Lifetime" warranties out there from Chrysler.

Warranty #1 is the lifetime powertrain warranty offered standard on all ChryCo vehicles (sans Diesel, SRT, Sprinter, and some fleet/chassis cab vehicles and the 5 lucky people who bought the Aspen Hybrid) between July 26, 2007 and the end of MY2009. This is a no deductible. MY2010 and beyond does not have this warranty. This does have the 5 year inspection requirement and Chrysler will send out a notice right before the start of the inspection period provided your address is up to date in the systems. I have an 08 Wrangler and got the notice earlier this year. Took an hour and replaced some diff seals that failed inpsection.

See this for the highlights.

Warranty #2 is the lifetime maximum care warranty that you can purchase from Chrysler dealers with either a $0, $50, or $100 per visit (excludes diesel and SRT...). This covers pretty much everything bumper-to-bumper but wear items. I don't believe this one has 5 year inspection requirement. This does have a caveat that if the repair costs more than the vehicle is worth, the warranty ends. I have not researched this one as much as I am just starting the shopping process. See this for highlights.

Do you mind telling how much they charged you? I have a 14 on order and the dealer mentioned that they offer the lifetime warranty (first I had heard of it). He said somewhere in the neighborhood of $3500. That sound right?

Are the lifetime warranties price negotiable? I confirmed today that my dealer wants 3599 for it. Wondering why the discrepency?

They are negotiable. The Dealership gets about 50% and the rest goes for the actual cost. I got my down pretty good but I also gave up some time and millage. Mine is 7 years 100,000 miles and cost about 1800.00 but it does include belts, gaskets and hoses, just not tires and brakes.

Then I have from the Dealer, the Original lifetime drive train but instead of inspections I have to have the oil changed at the dealership every 6 months or 5,000 miles for the life of the truck.

Also, know that there are some 3rd party companies that offer the same and are sold by dealers because they allow more profit so if it matters to you be sure to ask for the Mopar Factory extended warranty.

Great, thanks for all the info.

Are you required to buy the lifetime warranties at the time of purchase from the dealer you bought the truck from? I ask because when I bought my motorcycle, you could buy the extended warranty from any dealer. That was a great bargaining chip...kinda sucks if you have to get it from the dealer you buy the truck from...

No and no. You can buy them from any authorized dealer up to the end of the factory warranty. The price does go up as the vehicle ages/miles accrue.
