Question Help quick - 275/65/20????

Guys I need to order new LT tires for my 2013 Ram Crew Laramie 4x4. I travel gravel roads quite a bit so I need something a little durable.

I was considering the BF Goodrich All Terrains but see they only come in 275/65/20 (original size is 275/60/20) and I'm trying to figure out if they will fit.

I do not have a lift or any mods and would be putting these on the stock wheels.

Can someone please help confirm if these will fit without any issues? As always, photos are certainly welcome if you have any.

Thanks

The 65's can't be much more that a 1/2 maybe 3/4's of an inch taller at the most. It's just the sidewall, & there is plenty of room in those wheel wells. Possibly some rub at the sharpest turn points either way right or left?

Those will fit without issue. You can even do a 285 if you wanted

I have the BFG 275 65R20 on my Longhorn with air suspension. They are 1" taller than stock. I am one of several that have an issue with the front, left tire rubbing the inner wheel well liner at full left turn lock. It's most noticeable when in the entry mode height, but I do get some minor rubbing at normal height. It's not enough to concern me. In fact I looked at the spot that it rubs on tonight and you can't tell the tire is hitting it other than being a little shiny. The liner has a lot of flex to it and is a soft rubbery plastic. I eventually intend on pushing the lump in and melting it that way with a heat gun when my neighbor remembers to bring it home. You didn't say if you have the air suspension or not but from the looks of your post I don't think you do. If not, then if you get any rubbing, it will be the front left and only at full lock and not enough to worry about.

A couple of things I noticed about the BFG tires though is that the actual tread width is 1" narrower than the stock Goodyears. It's obvious that the 275 measurement is from the widest section of the tire which in the case of the BFGs is the middle of the sidewall. I wasn't happy to give up the tread width but I had already committed to them. I put 65,000 miles on two sets on my Explorer so I know how good of a tire it is. I got 50,000 miles out of the first set and just put the 2nd set on last year. The only other complaint (and it is minor) is that the LT tires ride quite a bit harsher than the stock Goodyears. Even with my air suspension I feel a lot more bumps in the road now. I don't notice them being any louder however and mileage seems to be about the same (it sucks).

I got the BFGs after I cut a Goodyear tire on a gravel road in a campground. I rode over a rock about the size of a softball but it must have had a sharp edge on it. Within a mile my tire had no air in it. Since the tire couldn't be repaired and I was already considering getting the BFGs it kind of sealed the deal. I would get them again. Next time though I would try a 285 55R20 to get the tread closer to the stock width. It's also 32.5" so it's closer in diameter to the stock 33.1". Downside is that size retails for $103 more per tire than the 275 size.

I have the Michelin LTX AT2's 275 65 20's on my Longhorn CC 6'4" bed and they fit without any issue even before I installed the Bilstein 5100's to level. They measure 34.1 with the stock Goodyears measuring at 33". Awesome tires by the way, quite on the Hwy and superb in the snow great on mileage.

Just put the same AT KO tires on my leveled 2012 last Monday.

Very pleased with the choice. Also made the observation about the width look but felt the same about the 285 that they appear skinny.

I think this is the best medium for our trucks without affecting the MPG too much.

285/65/20 BFG'S on mine. 2-inch level ($350.00). these really fill wheel well and no rubbing issues at all.
