Default Wheel Adapters

Needing some input/advice on wheel adapters. I'm looking to buy a used set of wheels and I can't find anything in the 5x5.5 bolt pattern, everything I've been finding always have the wrong bolt pattern/lugs. So I got to thinking and done some research, found some 1.25" thick billet adapters for $100-$175. I read where I'd originally need either a negative or 0 offset with like a 1/4" or 3/4" wheel spacer to help clear a 12.5" tire on a leveled truck, but having the 1.25" wheel adapter I'd have more choices for offset correct? Any thoughts on this and how safe it would be? Also, should I be concerned about voiding the warranty on the truck? Looking at 17" or 18" wheels, not sure which I'll go with but down the road (a year or two) I plan on doing a 6" lift.
