I just saw this. Middle of January before the 3.92 diesel trucks are going to begin production. I guess I've got plenty of time to work on my down-payment.

I agree. The 8spd trucks I've seen were usually laramie/laramie longhorn trucks. Not much in the way of big horns or slt trucks in my area. Most of those still have the 6spd.

I wonder if 350hp 600 tq will be possible on stock turbo and stock internals, if so then this becomes a real option for me personally. If getting there will take more than tunerr/intake/exhaust then for me I think I would be more happy with the performance of the Hemi (aside from the poorer MPG)

Look at what Banks has done with the Eco-Diesel...

Forum won't allow the link.. just good Banks Eco Diesel... They're saying the engine might be capable to make 600hp.

600 ft/lbs will put you over the torque rating for the 8 speed transmission. It is only rated to 516 ft/lbs

I'll let you know what comes out of this but tonight I am heading over to the local dealer to check on pricing/availability of the Hemi I want. On top of the employee pricing that I get, there are $5-6k in rebates so I Hemi would be crazy cheap for me right now. I think everything about the Eco Diesel is up in the air right now but in the end the basic summary is the Eco Diesel will obviously get better mpg, should be easier with mods, but will cost a significant amount more. I either save the money and spend it on the difference in gas, or wait it out and spend it up front...

Unless you live in Canada where diesel is the same price as regular!

I'm not self appointed....

I tend to do a little more research on things than just to say they blow. Why don't you just rock my mind with all the knowledge that you have.

I'm referring to the price difference in the truck models. Fuel cost isn't a significant enough difference to be considered to me.

Quote from Randomid, "I just have a problem with someone making ignorant statements about something they haven't driven or even seen yet".

Isn't that exactly what forums have evolved to? But you keep plugging at 'em brother.

The gear ratio is still the most important thing for someone wanting to run larger tires.
