I have a 2013 Tradesman single cab with the 4.7 motor. I mainly do city driving so I get about 13-15mpg which is a lot better then my 2006 chevrolet trailblazer ext I only got about 9-12 with that gas hog and it was a wimpy motor if i had to pass someone. My bank had a Repo 2012 Ram 1500 Express with the 5.7 I would rather had that but I couldn't afford the payments on it. The 4.7 has plenty of pep to get around people but my only complaint is at about the 30-40mph range the transmission feels really sluggish as in my torque just "dies off" until it shifts at about 42mph then its fine again. Anybody else have that issue or feeling when driving?

Anyone have a list of suggested performance upgrades for this 4.7?

^the best bang for the buck on a 2008+ 4.7L is a tuner. The superchips and bully dog tuners seem to give the most power gains on this engine.

I also bought my truck used and there is a huge difference in resale value for Hemi vs. 4.7. Until I bought a trailer recently I was really impressed with power, however that comes at a cost of MPG. I installed an Air Raid CAI and Hypertech Max Energy to increase MPG, and they work and increase HP but my next truck will probably be a 2500 Cummins.

How much are these tuner chips that people are talking about?

I like my 4.7 but a bit more power would be nice. Not really interested in paying the extra coin right now for a Hemi upgrade.

really wish i had gotten the HEMI. i'm suprised there is so little aftermarket for the 4.7, especially when it's made to use E85. i was anticipating that at some point some manufacter would use that to an advantage. i mean really, boost the 4.7, put it w/ E85 and you'll get almost no change of knock b/c of the octacane content.!! but so far no luck, reality, i really wish ppl would make kits for the 4.7 and stop treating it like it's some no power honda.

Something must really be wrong with my engine. I get only 12.5 according to the computer. I would love 17 or 20.

Change your plugs, change your oil (synthetic preferably) and add a can of Seafoam to your tank to clean your injectors. That should help out a bit.

Hate the lack of bottem end torque, but generally like the truck other then that, pulls good from 4,000 up,but under that leaves a bit to be desired.
My 13 4.7 RCSB with 3.55 gears gets over 30 miles per gallon at 50 mph, even at 80 mph it still pulls down 23 mpg.
Only mods are an Airraid CAI / Magnaflow catback dual exhaust / ported 78mm throttle body from Moes, Redline synthetic oil in motor and rear diff / lowered 2" front and rear /Mopar hard tonnue cover / bedrug kit.
Waiting for a tuner for the 13's with a 4.7.looks like it might be a long wait though
Rick
