I used to work for a Sunoco and held their fuel in a high regard.

Recently I've been running my ZX600 on just about anything. It started developing a bad idle so I tried some 94 octane in it.

It runs like a totally different bike so now I go out of my way to use Sunoco fuel. I was running low the other day and put $5 in the tank. Crappy idle came back. Topped it of with Ultra and now it's able to lift the front wheel again.

It's a little more expensive, but then again at $12-$13 a tank full it's not like it hurts that much.

I figured out the Ford and got 25.7 mpg this week, a little less than last week. I'll do the RAM when I get fuel in Hangover tonight before rollerbootin.
Lots of cops in Hangover on the weekend when I was there.

Had to go into Home Hardware and passed a cop on my way in. 35 min or so later I passed by another one on the way out.

Further on Highway 4 on my way back to 6, I passed another one??

What gives?

I don't know but I think it's a plague. Anyway the Ram got 22.3 mpg, down 2.4 and the ford got 25.7 down 1.4 mpg. I think it's the hot humid air this week not getting as much air for combustion. What do you guys think?

Fuel consumption has gone up on 89 octane in the 3 tanks of fuel we've used in July. Week of July 13, 22.3 mpg, 19, 23.6 mpg, 26, 23.0 mpg. It cost $7.00 more to fill with 89 vs. 87 last night to not drive as far so next week I'll be going back to 87 in the RAM. This experiment is over.

So you figure the gain was minimal and are planning on staying with the 87 vs the 89?

Depending on where I get my gas and what octane it is, there will be about a $0.10 difference.

As I said I don't think I would go out of my way to get the cheap gas, because it only saves me roughly $12-$14 per tank.

I realize that's a decent amount of money, but not if you spend half of it just getting there, and the time involved.

Still, I think I will stick with the 89 for now. Especially if I am going to be pulling a travel trailer behind me.

Yes, 89 octane is usually 10 cents more than 87, but I've found our truck runs farther on 87 octane. I'll stay with Shell and will never use cheap Pioneer or Canadian Tire fuel again.

Husky has worst gas then Canadian Tire fuel... Messes it right up. I run 91 because I use the 91 Octane tune and typically fill up with Esso if available, and odd Shell beside my work if I need it that bad because price is jacked up largely, but will use Pioneer 91 Octane if I need fuel because it is 1 minute from my house and I make over $2 in bonus bucks every fill up . If I were to drive to the closest shell, I would just go to the costco and fill up there.
