Default cummins diesel power next titian....is coming

http://www.***************/features/..._nissan_titan/

From the “nobody saw this coming” file we have Nissan announcing that a Cummins diesel engine will be offered in the next-generation Titan. Long written off as a rounding error in the monthly truck sales figures, Nissan and its recently-appointed North American chief Fred Diaz have scored a major coup by announcing the second light-duty diesel truck and the first with a diesel V-8.
The new engine will displace 5.0 liters and have outputs of over 300 hp and around 550 lb-ft of torque. For comparison, the 3.0-liter diesel V-6 in the 2014 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel makes 240 hp and 420 lb-ft of torque. What transmission will back the Titan’s Cummins is an open question, but it surely won’t be the aging five-speed found in the existing Titan.
Nissan North America boss Fred Diaz, who was recently hired away from his post as head of Chrysler’s Ram truck brand and surely had a role in getting Cummins on board feels confident about the new truck, saying that “there is no question that the new Titan will turn heads, and with the available Cummins 5.0L V8 Turbo Diesel, we expect to win new fans and attract buyers looking for this unique configuration.” We’ll have to see the truck for ourselves to judge, but Nissan is definitely coming out of the gate swinging.

Damn I new it! The Titan has a great platform already with their aged design but it is tried and true for being the young gun in the full size pickup market. If they build a transmission, they need to over engineer the thing because that will be the money maker if Titan wants to get this one right. Good luck Mr. Diaz and.........................."RELEASE THE TITAN"!

I'm with you. Also what kind of MPG would we be looking at. Something in the mid to low 20's?

Do a search for Titan and the Chrysler 1500 motor. A few years back Chrysler was supposed to make the motor for the Titan. It is no surprise to me that the Titan will most likely have 1500 parts in it. And probably the 8 speed zf trans coupled to the 5 liter v8 I want to believe that the Cummings engine was supposed to be in the 1500. But Diaz took it with him. I smell a law suit. Lol
