Default Break in MPG any less?

Just filled up my first full tank in my new '13 Express 4WD quad cab with Hemi and 6 spd. auto, gonna use 89 octane only. I'm guessing she'll get around 20 mpg combined, will see when I do the calculating after filling up again. This is my first Ram....will I see a modest increase in MPG after the break in period like most other engines? Posted in general because didnt think question was year or gen specific. Thanks in advance.

The prevailing wisdom is somewhere around 5K the MPG gets better, I saw a slight increase somewhere between 3500 and 5K.

i never saw any type of break in mpg. never found a difference between 87 or 89 octane. might be the corn gas we use in jersey.

Default I'm still curious about 2 MPG items on the Hemi's

1. Gas mileage for 03, 04 & 05 Hemi 5.7's. (apples/oranges to MDS).

2. Gas mileage for the 2500's highway (Friend that wants to bid a 2010).

I've seen some data on a few for both. Do we have a link here for
captured data in Forumz? I'm not tagged yet on the 05 1500. R...

Brand new, first 3 tanks: ave 15.4 city
Now at 2k miles, this tank ave 17.8 city

same commute, same gas station, same octane

Getting 20 with the 6 speed is probably not realistic

20 mpg as an average would be nice for a hemi, 6 speed. I can get 20 mpg on the freeway on mostly flat no wind days and being very attentive to the Fuel Saver icon. But an average depending on the mix will be around 15 to 17 mpg.

Lately I have been doing about 90% city and have been averaging right about 13 to 14. If I go out in rush hour traffic subtract 1 mpg.

A lot depends on your driving habits, how heavy your foot is and how much coasting you can do before hitting the brakes. The biggest part of fuel consumption in city driving is starting this brick from a dead stop. If you have any momentum between traffic lights it will use less fuel to accelerate.

City traffic.

I'm getting around 12 mpg local with MDS on or off, on my 2013 CC 5.7L. The area is pretty hilly and I have 3.92 gears. I have a feeling this is as good as it's going to get...even after 5k miles.

Yeah, 100% depends on your driving habits, distances, etc. 90% of the time, I drive short distances and avg. right about 13 mpg. When I take a 40 mile round-trip, it will jump up by 3-4 mpg., sometimes a little more.
