I have. I lived in Alaska for 12 years, Fort Drum NY for 6, and I can tell you knowing how to drive in it makes more difference than whether you have LSD or not. I drove a RWD pickup in Alaska with no issues. Also a Honda Civic in NY (snow belt, 6 feet in one night...ugh).

As a matter of fact I have:

Been to that same beach in 2 different 4G rams, one with no LSD and this one with. I have been driving both on and off road, on race tracks and trails, snow, ice, beaches, combat, sandy desert, you name it...and not ONCE have I NEEDED an LSD. Does it come in handy? Yes, sometimes...no denying that. But if you drive like a normal every day person, on normal every day roads, you will never need it...even in snow and ice.

Snow, ice no big deal if you have it in 4X4 but if you are on a slick cold road but not wet enough or icy enough for 4X4 then you can hardly accelerate without spinning one tire. In the UP of Michigan where you are driving on mostly snow covered roads I had no problems without LSD since I was mostly in 4X4 but in S.E. Wisconsin I would spin a tire regularly during winter.

I find that the LSD dif works great when pulling the toy hauler on gravel roads. Some of the hills here in Utah are quite substantial

Can't get mine to spin with 3.55 open diff unless I power brake it. It's a dog off the line thow I do a 6.0s 0-60. What kind of surface are you on? I can do it in snow or sand.
Please send a pic, got to see this.

Mine can too.

And I wish truck had it. I've had a couple with LSD, 06 QC hemi and 05 Silverado had it. Definitely comes in handy here in Oklahoma. Nothings more embarrassing than having trouble getting out of a wet little ditch in a full size truck because only one tire will spin...

I think LSD is very important especially in mud or any loose substrate. I've noticed a big difference in my Ram w/o it. I'm going to step up to a more aggressive tire this fall. The stock Goodyear Wranglers are useless off road, in the snow or ice. I bad when a Mercedes could pass me on a snowy/icy night last winter when being in a full size truck with 4x4 and LSD made you king of the hill. I kick myself for not getting it. I assumed (yes Ass) it came with the truck. Who would build a full size 4x4 with a 5.7 Hemi and not put LSD in it? I learned a hard lesson.
PS to those non believers, my old Ford 150 would easily transverse a course we used to have. I wouldn't even attempt it in this truck. Traction is bad and yes it's partially the tires but I have little confidence in this truck off road in it's stock configuration.

You can disable ESP traction control on a Diablo Tuner,
that sure made a difference to mine ....Here's my Trinity screen....

Heavy 305/50R20 all terrain Nitto Grappler tires almost 100 pounds per corner on stock 20's
I can literally melt the rubber from a stand still on BOTH rear tires, and I have an OPEN rear diff with 3.55's!

Full power is delivered equally to both sides of the rear axle if traction on both tires is equal...Proof:

...and yes, those are my Donut marks too

<click pic for vid>

and that was with just intake/exhaust and Diablo Trinity 93 tune

Since adding an Edge 2800 stall torque converter (flashes to 3000 rpm)
I can smoke the rear tires at will with just half throttle.

I have to set my transfer case on AWD (4-Auto)
to full throttle launch it now or it just sits and smokes the tires off

Recently installed a RIPP supercharger, 9psi boost and 500WHP, TC flashes to 3300 rpm now
Keep in in 4WD all the time now and it even Chirps into second gear

I'm probably going to install a Detroit TruTrac (Helical Gear Limited Slip carrier)
as soon as there's room in the budget, got a few other things to take of first.

Transmission, Water/Meth Kit and Aeromotive Fuel pump install this weekend,
then hopefully I can raise my shift points from stock (5600)
