Default Battery dead after 2 weeks

I just got back from my 2 week summer vacation and had the truck parked in the garage. The battery is completely dead!!!! The doors wouldn't open with the key fob and I found the battery to be completely dead. How can this happen after only 2 weeks on a 2year old truck?? Even charging the battery over night didn't do anything. Also I would like my key fob to come out of the ignition, where it is stuck now. Any ideas??

Thanks
Jon

Key stuck? Hmmm, sounds weird to me, but, hey, I don't know much. Now, about ye battery, yep, them things can do really strange stuff. Ye probably just need a new battery, even if only two years old. Heat will kill a battery, and cold.

Stuff like that happens. No biggie. Happened to me on a new motorcycle after 1 week. Just have it replaced under warrantee and enjoy your new truck.

Hell, you were lucky if you got two whole years on a battery living in Arizona. To me, that is about the average life for a lead acid battery, especially with all the electronics on vehicles nowadays. And just because the battery is new does not mean its a good one. Batteries can be mishandled or not prepped correctly just as easily as getting oily finger prints on a new headlight bulb.

Still nothing after an all-night charge? It very well could be a bad battery. Did you load-test it? If not, and this sounds simplistic, check the terminal connections for corrosion. Even a little can interrupt the connections.

If you have insufficient voltage after leaving it on charge overnight - and assuming it was charged with adequate amp/current - to start the vehicle, then the battery appears to have dropped a cell and is beyond repair.

Yup. One dead cell might not show up on a load test. You could use a hydrometer, but not if the battery is of a non-maintenance configuration. Good call, Grub.
