Took it to dealer. They have know idea of course. I have to take it back Thursday and leave it until they figure it out. And I don't believe they are giving me a loaner. Who knows what will happen. With only 545 miles on my truck. I hope if something is broken they replace it completely and not just attempt to fix it. I trust the dealership but sometimes their mechanics seem a little NEW to the game.

Still no answer from them. The transmission tech said he heard the noise. But, can't locate the sound. He thought it was something vibrating. But no luck proving that. So basically I gotta drive around till something brakes. I'm hating it. Which sucks since I just got the truck. Not sure what to do.

Well.....discovered the noise. And fixed it! Here is a copy of what I posted on another RAM Forum.

I did...... They still acted like after I left they couldn't make the noise happen like I did.

However.......TODY WAS MY LUCKY DAY!

I went out and listened to my noise with the windows up and it sounded like it was coming from the front passenger side.

And since it sounds like metal vibrating....under the truck I go. Here is what I found.

The only metal part I found that could be loose was a muffler clamp right where the two down pipes from the motor come together and clamp to the straight pipe going to the muffler. It's the only clamp like it on the exhaust. The other one by the muffler is different. Anyway, the clamp nuts were as tight as heck. I couldn't even budge them using a pipe over the end of the wrench. So I checked that idea off my list of one thing to check. But then I noticed it...... Right above that clamp, welded to the top of the muffler where that clamp is, is a flat clip that is bent kind of square and it goes over the clamp, evidently to hold the clamp in place during manufacturing before it actually gets put together and tightened down. Well it's only welded to the exhaust pipe on one side of the clamp. So the other side vibrates. Evidently around 3500 RPMs. Lol! But since its over the exhaust clamp it vibrates on the metal of the clamp. I went under the truck with a very large screwdriver and put it under that clip and pried it up until it was totally clear of the clamp. Now VOILA! No vibrating noise!

I'm so glad I could lose control. This noise has been haunting me since I got the truck. And four trips to the dealer with no fixes.

I feel like I need to go dealer and show them the culprit. So they can help anyone else who may have this issue. Cause clearly they'll never figure it out on their own.

Hope this helps someone.

Here is a pic of the problem piece.

Later.

Here is a second pic to help you locate the problem piece......it is under passenger side on upper side of exhaust pipe where the down pipes from each side of engine come together and slide into the long piece of exhaust pipe going to the muffler. Near the crossmember that the transfer case is mounted to.

Very good story and great conclusion. Will remember this potential noise source.

Amazing that the dealer could see this or know about it. There are just so many sources of noise under a truck to look at and the muffler system is always the prime suspect.

my 2014 Laramie has the vibration at 2000 rpms. truck is 2 weeks old and has 600 miles on it. I can feel it in the steering wheel and gas pedal. I retired from ford after 35 years and this is my first ram 1500. welcome!!! at least it didn't almost kill 4 of us in the truck when the ecoboost intercooler created condensation and turbos thru that water into the motor entering an interstate. and also my 2012 f150 lariat was on it's 3rd steering rack. sorry, just venting. I just cant deal with another lemon.

This is a pure example of why I love this forum. Got my 2014 two months ago and I had the same issue and could not fathom what could cause it. Go out and sure enough there is that stupid tab as pictured. pulled it off....no noise!

Glad you got it fixed. I want to throat punch whoever designed U bolt exhaust clamps though.
