Maybe someone out there is more aware of the new computer system than I am, but my sense is they are VERY complex these days. I was told the systems even learn your driving habits and adjust gear shifts to maximize engine efficiency given them. I could easily see such a complex system being specifically programmed to work only with an engine/tranny/gear ratio set up (i.e different computer modules needed for hemi/8 speeds with 3.92 and 3.21 gearing). This is something I would hope dodge and your ram dealer service would know about however--if that's the case, the swap should have gone hand in hand with a swap to a different computer system.

This is true, they are quite complex and do adjust to different driving habits... but that part of the computer would be completely separate from where you would adjust numbers such as gear ratios, tire size, ect.... Like I said before, I can understand not being able to adjust the gear ratio (even though a Bully Dog tuner can do it) but they should be able to adjust the tire size no problem. So either way the problem should be corrected.

The story I got today is that the 8 speed tranny is a completely different animal than the 6 speed. In fact I was told that had the truck been a 6 speed the swap would have been flawless and id be driving my new truck right now, the 8 speed apparantly has some software in it that they say they can't change. I still don't buy it, I believe thats what the guys at the dealership were told but I don't believe that the transmissions are programmed only for a specific gear ratio. They have to be able to change it, just can't imagine that the trannys are built in Germany for a specific gear set. They gotta be able to assign that gear ratio when they install the transmission.

Either way it doesn't matter now, Chrysler says they can't and won't do it so the truck is useless to me.

They have promised to fast track the order, just have to wait and see how that goes I guess. They're saying it'll be built the last week of September, they have said they will get it in the build sequence for that week and delivery to the dealer late October.

Well good luck with everything. Hopefully they stick with those dates and you get it by the end of October. 2 months goes by pretty quick.

Yeah hopefully it'll go way smoother this time than it did the first time . Lol

While I'm waiting I realized yesterday that I still love my 09 sport, love driving it and it still works great.
