my turning point between the two came down to seat comfort. the ford was a huge deal breaker for me. Still dealing with an old hip injury, the ford was just way too stiff in the wrong spots and seriously hurt me on only a 20km test drive. The ram however once I adjust it fits me like a hammock, couldnt be happier. I've never heard many complaints about the fords seats but for me they were terrible on my hip, in the end people just choose what suits them best

I have to agree though that something funky is going on in those ecoboosts that ford really needs to fix properly.

This doesn't necessarily prove anything, but my run in with an Ecoboost yesterday surprised me a little after all I hear about how fast they are. I was stuck behind some old broad for what seemed like forever and right behind me was an Ecoboost F150. I could tell he was getting heated, and I was annoyed about the car in front of me as well as the the guy behind me on my bumper like there was something I could do. Suddenly the road splits to 3 lanes and the car in front stays in the middle. I took the left and the F150 tries the right which was for turning right only. I waited for him to nail it and I did the same. I pulled on him pretty good. I was kind of walking away from him from 40mph right up to about 80 and then I let off and watched him go flying by like he was proving a point. Too many variables to say this actually proves anything but I certainly wasn't pissed on like I expected.

Note: I have the dreaded 6spd 3.55 combo too.

heh, good on ya I agree, there seems to be a misconception about the ecoboosts. Stock vs stock i think we have them, now a tuned ecoboost vs a stock hemi...most likely a different story. I have pretty much the same experience with my buddy's '13 EB FX4, I have a '13 6 speed/3.92 LSD and off the line i make him look like an old mazda 323, this is stock vs stock, but now with my CAI I'd say he doesnt stand a chance

Like I posted earlier the '13 ecoboost I had was pretty quick when everything was right, sometimes it was an absolute dog. I did a bunch of logging with SCT and the timing is all over the place with no clear reason why. Sometimes it would put you back in the seat pretty well for a pickup when you floored and other times you knew it was a little 6 cylinder with -5 degrees of timing.

Its just hard to beat the always there torque of a large displacement V8. If the ecoboost would have at least delivered on the fuel mileage I would have kept it longer.

inconsistent boost pressures and turbo lag are why I love superchargers. True, turbos can be tuned far in advance of blowers, and there are some incredible turbo setups out there. it's also true that parasitic loss and heat soak are the primary limiting factors on blowers

- but all the really big dogs of the racing sport, use blowers for a reason. instant, on demand boost. if the motor's turning - so is the blower. With their linear pressure curves and always positive displacement, I'm surprised that towing rigs don't use them more. turbo lag to me seems counter intuitive when you need torque, and right now.

I know on the toyota forums and from personal experience, adding a blower - when tuned correctly, actually improves gas mileage against the N/A version of an identical rig. Back in my modding days I had a supercharged regal that would yank the wheel right outta your hand from torque steer if you nailed it and weren't paying attention

Well I bought a Ram 4x4 Sport Crew 8 speed 3.55 gears. I will say the Eco was fast I had my ecoboost tuned with livernois and it weight 6103lbs with my grill guard and tonne cover and I ran a 13.99 1/4 mile launching in 4x4. I could only do this once it averaged 14.2 in the 1/4.

I traded up to a 2013 Ram 1500 4x4 Laramie with 3.92 from a 2012 F150 FX4 Ecoboost with 3.73. I would have to say the Ram with 3.92 has the Eco beat. Not to mention it sounds so much beter that the V6 Eco. Also the Ecoboosts still have issues whitch I had and was the reason I traded in. I am getting about the same MPG in town at 15.5, however my freeway is better than the Ecoboost at around 20ish. Keep in mind I only have 500 miles on my Ram and had 9k on the eco before trading in. All in all I am glad I made the move to RAM!!
