I already had a lot of stuff from my previous truck like the heads, intake manifold, nitrous system. I have gotten some great deals buying lightly used parts from forum members and I have the ability to do most of the work myself so that really saves money. I'm not a professional by any means, but I'm definitely learning a lot.

I also have Bully's to thank as well. They've helped me out as well with some much needed parts and Andrew and Jeremiah have been great to deal with. All the parts to my soon-to-be custom exhaust and QTP cutouts have come through them.
I thought well north of 20K.

Probably would have been if you hadn't been involved first hand.

The completed product will be interesting....

I think what has saved me the most money is that I'm willing to delve into this myself and see where it takes me. I have never built an engine before, and yes I have made mistakes, but I've learned SOOOO much and nothing I have done has been a disastrous mistake, it's just little issues that have arisen, and having learned how to troubleshoot has been a huge help. I've become a resource for my local car club as well, I've been asked to help with several 'deep' engine mods across the LX platform, which is kind of cool.

AS much as my wife has complained over the last 1.5 months of my truck not running, she realizes that I love what I'm doing and it's still less expensive than having had a shop do the work. Of course, when I tell her, because of what I've done, I need to do more to make it all work properly/better, she gets a little angry, but c'est la vie.

Inner CV joint victim #1. Ordered a set of Kore inner CV joints yesterday morning at the tune of $850, but should prevent this in the future.

Literally, broke that sh!t apart. No clunking to indicate the joint going out, that sh!t just sheared right the f off. Caused by accidentally switching the truck into 4wd when removing the switch to reinstall into the center console that I had just refinished.

Ordered a set of Kore high angle inner CV joints today. That should allow sufficient mobility in the inner joint to keep the outer joint happy. Damn, it's costing me $1300 just to keep the damned McG's drop spindles... but you'll see why when I'm able to actually wash the truck and I can take pics of the new 4wd's stance

Depends on when I decide to actually stop

This year is all about performance and basic appearance. Next spring will be the audio build and paint. Then who knows after that. I am hoping to buy a house next year and I'm dead set on a 30% downpayment, so my mod funds won't be as high as they were this year, but I can still put away $500 a month for mods I think and that will cover the paint and audio by the end of spring.

Dude! You need to share how the hell you can save money and have 30% down for your house and still mod your truck like many dream they can do.

That should be the topic of your thread for the next posts

Will this be your daily driver? Or you have another daily driver and this is your fun car/truck?

This truck is my daily driver... when I'm home. I fly to/from my work site and have a diesel '13 CCLB SuperDuty kitted out for rescue that I tool around in up there. I work 7 days on, 7 days off, and am on call 24hrs a day when working.

First of all, I have an awesome job... a contract industrial safety and rescue technician working for the Norwegian state oil company. Biggest benefit of being an independent contractor is how little I pay in tax compared to when I was an employee, 14% corporate tax and 12% personal tax as compared to the 42% personal tax I was paying before; that 16% savings translates to an additional $23K a year over what I was taking home just over a year ago.

Next tip... do the work yourself. I'm no mechanic, but I can figure stuff out as long as I have resources to pull from, and for all the modern mopar forums out there, you can pretty much find anything you need through said forums.

Lastly, I look for killer deals before buying a lot of stuff, and it helps to know the right people sometimes. Sponsorships really help for somethings, but I also pick up a lot of stuff used these days and make it work for my application.
