I just got through changing oil and filter on my Pentastar. Looking at it and thinking about it took more time than actually doing it. Not necessary to take the engine cover off to change the filter. Great idea about marking the filter cap. Very good photos also. I used Mobil 1 synthetic 5W-20. Have used it for years in other vehicles. Very good oil.

I ordered the genuine Mopar filter (MO-349) from Amazon for $9.95 with free shipping. It got here in about 3 days.

Great write up on the filter change. I got one question for everyone, do you put some fresh oil in the filter housing before you put the cap & the filter back?

Very helpful thread, about ready to do my first oil change at 1500 miles. Our Auto Zone had Castrol Syntec on sale and you got a free Bosch oil filter. Just wondering what your thoughts are on the Bosch filters? Are they as good as anything else, they all look similar at a quick glance. Thanks

You did get a very good deal. I'm sure Bosch filters are just fine but for now I'm sticking to the Mopar filter. In the future I'll probably try a Bosch filter.

Thanks, one thing I started to read some more on is Chrysler warranty and what oils and filters are up to their factory standards so not to affect warranty of vehicle. Anyone know more about this?
