Default Question about my 6 speed auto

I just bought my Ram a couple weeks ago. it has the Hemi with the 6 spd auto and 3.92 gear. Does the 6 spd auto skip 3rd gear to conserve fuel under easy to moderate acceleration? I've counted the shifts time after time and it definatly shifts 4 times, not 5, and the 2nd shift yields a much more substantial rpm drop than all the others, no less than 800 rpm, suggesting to me that it is intentionally skipping a gear. The drop doesn't bog the engine, but its really not far from it. I know there are other trannies that have had the gear skipping feature like that for quite some time so I'm just assuming that's the case with this one. Thanks for any input.

truck is kinda a 5speed with overdrive since never really use 6th unless on the HWY. when i shift myself 3rd gear is usually a short shift since its almost geared the same as 2nd. in city i only go to 4th gear when shifting myself, sometimes i leave it in 3rd if traffic is slow (around 40km/h).

all i can say is just play with it, you'll figure it out lol. what i did anyway.

Yeah guess a could set the column shifter gear limiter to 3rd then manually shift it up after in 3rd. Not as user friendly as your nice floor shifter lol. Not too pressed on it, just seems like it would suck more fuel shifting like it does, which is holding on to 2nd longer before up shifting. Thanks for the advice.
