I would pay for Pandora if it has on-screen functionality. For those that have it, how well does it work ?

I would not hold my breath, however, as the 1st is Sunday, it may be released as a dealer installed update on Monday the 2nd. Do we know for certain, that it is going to be an OTA update?

Not to jack the thread but the whole pay for stolen vehicle assist is a little sketchy. Are you telling me if the police ask Uconnect to locate a stolen vehicle that hasn't paid the monthly fee they are going to tell the police no? How is that any different then if I know where someone's stolen vehicle is and the police ask me where it is and I reply the owner needs to pay me first?

I was told the 911 was always active and not dependent on a subscription.

I have a feeling, that the difference would be...

In the case of you knowing the location, the location is known by younand withheld, constituting an obstruction of justice. The authorities, however, would have to prove that you knew the location in court, to make the charge stick.

In the case where the subscription lapsed, UConnect may not have the authority to locate the vehicle. Even though the hardware is in place, The choice to continue or discontinue the service, therefore making the vehicles location known to UConnect, is up to the vehicle owner. Revealing the vehicles location under these circumstances, may constitute a violation of the owners --or person(s) in the vehicle-- right to privacy. The subscription, is the waiver, allowing the location to be revealed.

If the owner chose to continue the service, then UConnect has the authority to make an attempt to locate the vehicle, and is obligated to make their best attempt to do so, same as you would be obligated to reveal its location if you knew it. If the information is withheld in those cases, it is considered an obstruction of justice. Since UConnect has the authority, as granted by the subscription, to locate the vehicle, the authorities would have to prove UConnect's ability to do so, to make the charges stick.

In certain instances, such as where knowing the vehicles location is in the best interest of national security, then, UConnect may ordered to comply with the investigation, regardless of subscription status. Vehicle theft, however, is very unlikely to be one of those instances.

The Emergency 911 service --as with every cell phone with and without an active subscription, is required to work.
