Default Pulling 46re from a 2001 2500 long box

I have three 2nd gen rams and have just started removing the transmission from the 01 3/4 tonne. This truck could only find reverse, no forward gears at all. I already have pulled another 46re from the other 01 2500 I have, both are 46re although I was surprised to see the pressure governor solenoid was different between the two. It's possible that one of these was not original to the truck. (Third truck is a 99 1500 which I'm keeping around for donor parts).

So instead of just switching transmissions between the two 2500s, I'm just going to rebuild the long box tranny. I'd like some speculation on what went wrong with the long box transmission, I was hoping it might just be a solenoid issue but other forum posts have extinguished that hope since I can go into reverse but nothing else.

Can anyone recommend a supplier for rebuild kits for the 46re?
Any particular upgrades?
Upgraded torque converter source? (I'm in Canada so shipping can be an issue for heavy items)
Valve body replacement?

If I'm repairing these, I don't want to be going back into them a year from now. I'll still have engine/interior & body work to do later.

Thanks for all replies.
