So your truck has paint issues/defects just the same as mine huh?
Problem is, my truck also has a non working NAV/Radio system so I haven't been driving it and if they tell me I can continue driving it "until my 14 comes in" that is a problem for me.
I have been making 2 months of payments on a truck that sits in my garage, I don't want to make another 2 months of payments on a truck that sits in my garage.
I would rather them take my truck back this week, credit me two months of payments and insurance and give me a loaner vehicle for the two month wait for my 14 to come in.
That's what I'll be asking for.

When I do a build and price on the website for a Laramie, there isn't even an option for 3.21 gears. I didn't order the 3.92 because I assumed I was getting 3.55 which is what it defaults to. I do NOT want 3.21 gears - they aren't even listed. Is this something I should be concerned about?

Crud. I was on the 2013 build and price. Guess I have 3.21 gears coming in my truck. :-(

Should I try and get them to make a change to the 3.92 gears? Think they will? It's not in production yet...

If you read the reviews last year on the 2013 trucks you'll remembder the 3.6 Pentastars with the 3.21 tranny have really good 0-60 times and is the engine/tranny combo all the reviewers were gushing over. I can't imagine the Hemi with a 3.21 will be a slouch.

If I towed often and lived in a hilly environment I might reconsider. I'm just throwing my thoughts out so you can see both sides of the arguement.
The RPM in an 8 speed 3.92 is lower than a 3.55 5 speed in 8th gear Compated to 5th gear!!. So it depends on what your comparing. 8th gear in a 3.21 is with in 100 rpm lower than a 3.92 8th gear!!! its not much difference at all....

It looks like it will be offered with the diesel later this year as well, when it becomes available. I have been dealing with this since Feb, 2013 when I ordered a 2013 Ram 1500 CC Laramie 4X4 with the 8 speed and 3.55 axle. During the order, it actually showed the 3.55 axle was standard and the 3.21 axle was nowhere to be seen on the order form. I learned after the truck was built and waiting to be shipped that it was actually built with a 3.21 axle. (Lots of people in that boat!) Management from Chrysler got involved and after it was determined the axles couldn't be swapped at the factory, they cloned my order and built me a new truck with the 3.55 axle in 3 days. That portion of my dealing with Chrysler was awesome and they were very responsive. Unfortunately, the truck arrived damaged and both passenger side doors had to be re-painted. The repair was unsatisfactory, so I didn't take delivery on the second order. Now, I have a 2014 Ram 1500 cc 4x4 Laramie on order (my last try) and I'm back where I started-no 3.55 axle. I too ended up ordering the 3.92 axle as the tow capacity with the 3.21 axle is too low. The 3.92's will tow about 4,000 pounds more than the 3.21. I am a little puzzled why the Ram 1500 with the Hemi/6 speed transmission and 3.55 gears tows 2,000 pounds (8450 lbs) more than a Hemi/8 speed with 3.21 gears (6400 lbs)?
The 2014 ram 1500 crew cab hemi and 3.21 8 speed is rated at 7950 lbs not 6400

You might want to re-visit the weight ratings.2014 tables are the same from RAM web site since no Change in Trucks from 13 to 14 on the Ram 1500 5.7 Hemi. 6400 Lbs is max for the 3.21

Some potentially good news for those with the 3.21 rear ends with the 8spd! My dealer just got the spec sheets for the 2014's and it seems the tow ratings have increased pretty significantly over 2013's with the same powertrain. Crew cab 4x4's are now rated at 7950lbs.

My dealer explained that for 2013 Ram just used the same ratings for the 8spd as they did with the old 6spd, regardless of rear end choice. Apparently now they are rated as seen here. The increase is attributed to the park mechanisms and the gearing benefit of the 8spd.

This image has been resized. Click this bar to view the full image. The original image is sized 1024x768 and weights 167KB.

Sorry but Im well aware of the ratings since this is why I choose the set up I did

Hey that's good news for the 3.21 Folks!! I still need at 8500 lbs minimum for a 7700 Lb travel trailer with all our junk in trailer...lol. That's quite a Upgrade for the 3.21. Nice! Again RAM is more bang for the buck!

I changed my Ford from a 3.25 to a 4.10 and my fuel economy increased! Didn't have to press the throttle nearly as much in acceleration and it got the engine more into its preferred power band. Mind you I only drive at 60 mph. If I was on the interstate this may not apply.
