Default A/C compressor not getting power and blower smell

Hi,

I never knew my A/c didnt work until this summer. When i checked it out myself i found that A/c or Max a/c didnt matter, the compressor just wouldnt come on. The blower worked fine, (and now) the blower when selected on A/c or max a/c produces and awful smell. The smell is similar to a mix of dead mice and or old sweaty socks, or mold, or something of that sort. its so bad that even with the windows down and driving i can still smell it. Dad and i tested the circuit and found the relay for the compressor to be good, and the high pressure switch and low pressure switch were closed, meaning there must be a good gas charge in it for both switches to be calling for A/c. the problem is the compressor is not getting any power? Wondering where the wire goes after the relay and up to the compressor? and a possibility as to where the smell is coming from?

Note that the heat works fine, and when the blower for the heater comes on, there is not a trace of any smell? i thought that was weird. As it is a project to remove a dash and then the evaporator, i was wondering if anyone else has some knowledge on this issue? Thanks,
Devin.

First off, disconnect the power connector to the compressor, turn the a/c on to max a/c and check for voltage in the switch.
Can't really go any farther till we know if there's power to the compressor.

thats the thing there isnt any power getting to it. inside the relay i can hear it click when my dad turned the a/c switch on in the dash, which means it is trying to send the power to the compressor.
