Default P0700 code after tacking out in gear position 1

So I put my truck in 1 to see how fast I could go before tacking out then after that when I went to take off it was sluggish and the check engine light come on I deleted the code and it runs fine now so what happend

Just a stab in the dark? But maybe fuel cut-off then into limp mode? Hence sluggish until ignition off/on reset? Just a guess.

P0700 (in the ECM) means there is some other code set in the TCM (which is what actually caused your limp-in condition). You'd need to get that code in order to see what actually happened.

If it's running OK now, I wouldn't worry a whole lot about it. Maybe a momentary sensor problem or something. If you were in full limp-in (4th gear only), that was probably in response to some electrical issue (bad wiring connection somewhere, bad sensor reading, etc.).

Could it be my battery connectors they look pretty rough

Yes, low battery voltage (or bad connections) could cause trans limp-in. In that case, you should find a P0562 (Battery Voltage Low) fault code in the TCM, I believe.
