Default 2014 Sport - Current Mileage

Have had the Ram for about a week. Now have about 750 miles. In town driving, I have been seeing about 16mpg. Highway has been 18.5-19mpg. Terrain on the highway was mild hills, nothing big.

While driving back to town (about 100 miles) I was pulling a small load of about 1,000# (hardly can be called towing). While pulling at about 60-65 mph, I saw an average of 18.3 (which is 1 mpg less than on the way).

This was with the Hemi, MDS, 8 spd transmission and 3.92 gears. Now this was not flat Kansas or Oklahoma but it was not ridiculous climbs either.

are you manually shifting or using tow/haul mode? Or just letting the trans do its own thing?

If I was pulling a heavy load, I probably would have done it differently but in this case I was using ConocoPhillips 87 octane. I was allowing the transmission to do its own thing rather than tow / haul mode or manual shifting since it was a light load. I did not use cruise and I was easy on the throttle with the trailer.

If a heavy load or big aero load, I would have used 89 and tow / haul.
