I have a 2012 2500ST and had it checked at 25,000 miles. It was low by a quart but clean.

Hey CA. I did do it my self. However when going over the memory of that day I swapped the fluid out after I pulled the rear cover off & cleaned both surfaces perfectly for maximum adhesion of the permatex right stuff. Heres the deal. It's an opinion w/ an observation is all. I was on my driveway that slopes down & away. the truck was nose in so the jack stand under the pass rear was positioned higher to compensate for this. The truck was as level as could be. When the dealer services these they pull the drain & fill plug. They probably allow for a whopping 5 min drain time. They have the truck on a lift w/ the rear dangling. If thats the case & were talking about my year truck 2012 where the drain plug is in the front portion of the rear diff & not the rear cover. that would mean your not / nor are they completely emptying the rear diff. Now I feel since having pulled the rear cover & then re sealing & filling it , it took 2.3 quarts. In addition My trucks rear was supported by jacks i know that would mean the rear diff would have sat at a less steep angle than had it been on a lift but my driveway is a small hill so the rear sat lower as it would've if it were on a lift thus allowing for increased fluid fill capacity. Had I just pulled the drain plug like on my 2012 , then replaced & filled it would be only logical that it wouldn't take as much fluid to fill because there would still be some left behind. J.M.O. Oh & not that it matters but I do 99% of all my own work. I know a good amount but not everything & thats why I enjoy doing my own maintenance. I love learning as much as possible. That goes for all things in life. I hope this helps a bit.
