Default New here need a few idea`s

Hey guy`s how`s it going? glad to join the forum, looking at all other truck forum`s this one seem`s to to best, lots of info and helpful people.I live up in maine and bought a used 04 ram 2500 4x4 hd 4dr for cheap $ i think? it was $11k had 90k miles but truck seems to be in exc shape.ive owned it now 4-5 months and want to do a few things to it. The way $ is, I just want to make it count.I need it to ive got some toys and had lots of others, but this yr seems to be the worst to put extra $ in a place not needed. im sure some of you notice it also. So my thing is cheap power. any idea on gains with a programer and which one? does my 04 (hemi) have a limiter in 1st like i read on other threads? if so why whould any one do that? my truck goes surprisingly good but it seems to go better top end then lower end. cia is happening also so i know to do that. Ive had some pretty good trucks with some big block power but they was 6-7 mpg not happening for 4x4 again (got one in my car thats still in progress).back to the truck i would like to just thromp on the throttle dead stop and smoke the tires. it has 410 `s & auto transmission but when floor sometime`s it just hooks up hard barely does anything. but going about 20 mph and stomp on sometime`s she`ll burn then dont get it? just want to the most out of for maybe no more then $600 for now after xmas and need a few right for a fact wont regret it idea`s. it`s kinda of a work truck but a nice one, im going to buy a 1/2 ton in a within few yrs to save on gas. Thank you for any help or info

Welcome to the forum.

The best bang for the bucks for your HEMI are:

1. Intake

2. Exhaust

3. DiabloSport Predator Programmer

Gains are variable depending on truck condition so don't hang your hat on those numbers. But this tool is the best one out there, IMHO.

Yes, you have a rev limiter and it just isn't in 1st gear. It's in all gears at the redline.

I have to agree. ^^^
Cold Air Intake, Exhaust and a Programmer will give you the most noticeable gains of just about anything.

you could probably get all 3 of them rigged up for around a grand.

Diablosport Predator appears to be the best one out there . Cai , headers with a nice dual exhaust . Let the monster breathe .

..you don't have the worst year..the 03's pcms are hard to make changes to..altho it depends when your 04 was produced, early ones were like the 03's while later built ones are like the 05 where the pcm is easier to manipulate with a programmer... if your not plannin any major mods (mostly bolt-ons) then the superchips 3865 (or flashpaq 3815) or the diablo predator would be the best choices. Been awhile since I had a superchips on but what I like about the diablo is the idle adjustment feature (add or remove rpms at idle) and wot fuel/timing adjustment feature. What I've seen with superchips is better tranny control...
