I disagree to that statement. Lots of LONG extinct engines are still getting love, and parts.

4.7 falls into the same category as many of these, kind of viewed as a red headed step child while in service, then as people think back they realize how good it really was.

Someone just released new heads for a ford Y block. They haven't been used since the early 60's, so I wouldn't count out the 4.7 just yet.

I'm sorry to see it go too, because so many Ram owners have said some real good stuff about the motor.

On the other hand the new V6 may surprise all of us and be a great replacement.

I had the 4.7 in my 04 and that was a horrible gas guzzling motor lol However I do really like the new 4.7's in the 4th Gen as they have nearly the same power output as the 3rd Gen Hemi.

i had a 2002 dodge dakota 4X4 with the 4.7 litre V-8.
i loved that truck
it had an automatic transmission, 4 door quad cab.
16 mpg around town and 20mpg hiway
it had a lot of pep and it would go if you "gassed" on it!!!

Default lot likeing the 4.7

its power seems as though as a v-6 however it does have better fuel economy. but im still un impressed with these new 2013 dodge rams with the 4.7L. The power steering is shot already. just 5 miles into the dirt road going to my ranch. very disapointed in the 2013s...
