It is confusing. I think the way it works is that every Ram has a basic package designation. Either ST, SLT, Laramie etc.

Where it really gets confusing is some packages or trim lines are treated like the basic package. Laramie for example. And some are treated separately.

For example, A Laramie is a Laramie. Not an ST, or SLT. Insurance will recognize it as a Ram Laramie. But A Bighorn or Outdoorsman is noted as an SLT with either a bighorn or Outdoorsman package. Insurance agents won't have a choice of Bighorn, they will ask you if your Bighorn is an SLT--and then get to the options added later.

Likewise I THINK the Longhorn is just an added package on top of the Laramie basic designation.

So you have your SLT w/Bighorn, your SLT with Outdoorsman, and your Laramie with Longhorn package. Everything is either an ST, an SLT, or a Laramie and it goes from there.

Or maybe I am all #@$%&! up?

Hi guys, I think I can help!

ST is the basic package up here in da Nord. (Canada)

It's the equivalent version to the States Tradesman level.

ST with an SXT package means it comes with 17" Aluminum rims instead of 17" Steel wheels.

Cloth seats (front split 40/20/40 bench) instead of vinyl.

Remote Keyless entry.

It gets the chrome grille with black hex inserts and chrome bumpers instead of black plastic grill and bumpers, and more chrome on the inside.

It also gets the one year Sirius package as well.

How do I know?

I own one. lol

However, I like anothernewb's version better!

EDIT: Well, dang it, I just noticed the org. poster is from Baton Rouge, when I glanced quickly at his profile I thought he was from Quebec, Canada. I do know, that I have an ST with the SXT appearance package and when I call up my vin, the differences I noted are what comes up.

I'm thinking this is truer than any of us want to believe. And it's funny too!
