Your analysis is corrrect. Ram does not have power fold tow mirrors

its not new, and thats exactly the reason...on the other hand, one would think

a) the bigger they are, the more you need it..
b) it seems that most dealers are clueless
c) it also seems that alot of purchasers are clueless....and that included me, despite trying every which way but loose to find out what i had...including the build sheet saying I had power fold...but I wasnt sure until I sat in it and tried it...

and yeh, FORD doesnt seem to have that issue...

The big trailer mirrors don't come with power fold. You can get the trailer package with the regular mirrors though as the mirrors and the trailer control are separate items on the option list. I have the trailer control without the trailer mirrors.

Copy that! I also ordered the tow package and my salesman deleted tow mirrors and had the sport mirrors left on. He said that he even confirmed with a "regional guy" that it could be done - and that it WAS done on my truck. If my Sport arrives with the big black Mickey-Mouse tow mirrors sticking out I am going to be PISSED!

The tow mirrors do manually fold so it isn't like you are missing out on a feature. Yes, it is more convenient to just push a button but the function is identical between powered and non powered.

I have to fold my d/s mirror in when I go to the post office drop off box which has the elongated snout. Also, I put a permanent groove with my tow mirror in the side of the McDonald's building drive through the first day I had my truck.

Can you manually fold a power folding mirror? I can think of occasions when I'm outside the truck when I might want to.

I'm curious as well, but I'm afraid to try it. "The manual never said not to" seems like a poor excuse for breaking a $$$ mirror assembly.

Yeah, I'd rather somebody else try it first.... For what it's worth, Thunderhorse, I've come to rely on your posts for good and reliable information. Little anecdotal hearsay stuff from you and I appreciate it.

To quote the manual and common sense: "All outside mirrors are designed to be able to be manually folded both forward and rearward to prevent damage." We all run into stuff accidentally, some more than others.

Further: "If the mirror is manually folded after electrically cycled, a potential extra button push is required to get the mirrors back to the home position. If the mirror does not electrically fold check for ice or dirt build up at the pivot area which can cause excessive drag."
