Now I wouldn't choose to go 60,000 miles without changing oil, but if that's his perogative, it claims to be good for that long. That and who knows how many miles he drives a year.

With regular oil you could not drive a mile in a year and you will have to change it twice. Running Mobil-1 5w-20 Synthetic at $85 a change x 2 times a year that is $170 Dollars.

Amsoil with Mopar Filter is $86 a year with 2 filters...... So that is half the money, better oil, less time on my back changing oil, less waste, and the oil is produced here in America. I get better mileage from using it compared to Mobil 1 so that is less money spent on fuel. All of the AMSOIL products are a return on your investment when used correctly. "MUCO Dollars" = NO...... Saved Time and Money = YES!

Oh and AMSOIL Full Synthetic is good for 25,000 miles or 1 Year..... That is what AMSOIL warrants their oil to...... ** I drive about 6,500 miles a year so that second oil change of Mobil 1 would be a waste....... Amsoil will not break down over the 1 year that it is in my oil pan. Put it in tranny, diffs, and engine and you will see a 1 to 3 MPG increase!

I have owned both the 4.7L Magnum and 5.7L Hemi and have run Royal Purple and Amsoil full synthetic. In my opinion both these brands of synthetic oils are excellent and not only help keep your engine running great but clean it well and keep it lubricated too. I live in Texas and the temperatures get very hot here so a full synthetic is important.

And of course, as a few have posted, running the manufacturers recommended MDS is a must. I was a big Amsoil user until the prices for that product skyrocketed so I switched to Royal Purple which is expensive but I'm not paying shipping costs on top of it.

But something I didn't see mentioned was filter selection. A cheap filter may not be the best choice. In my opinion if you're willing to pay for the expensive good synthetic oil then use a good filter. I like Wix but you can get Napa Gold a few dollars cheaper. And by the way, the manufacturer that makes Wix also makes Napa Gold so they are the same filter.

My 2006 Ram 1500 4.7L Magnum has over 100,000 miles and I gave it to my son who drives it back and forth from college (2 1/2 hours one way) and it runs great. I use Royal Purple full synthetic in it.

It's good to see another Dodge lover taking care of their investment.

I run Supertech 5w20 full synthetic. Fine for over 4000 miles now.

I dont see the big with what type of synthetic oil you use. As long as you change it I dont see how you can have any problems.
