Default 04 ram 1500 4x4 torsion bar problems

Ok guys here goes this is my first ram and first time posting so I'm not sure I'm doing this right. I recently replaced my shocks on 04 ram 1500 4x4 and my lower and upper control arm on my truck. While trying to put my torsion bar back in I realized now the torsion key is to far down now to load the torsion bar so thinking I had it in wrong I tried rotating it but then it's to loose and no room to load it. Should the torsion load be so tight that even with a breaker bar I'm struggling to tighten the loader tool? I'm at my wits end and have been without a vehicle for three days now if anyone has had this problem or any info that may help I will be very grateful.
