Default Recon cab lights

Anyone have any trouble with their recon lights? Mine are under a year old and three of them have failed. I was about to order another kit until this morning when the third one went out. I was also interested in some of their other products but now I'm a little skeptical about buying anything else from them.

Sorry to hear you're having problems. I have had my Recon cab lights installed since April (just over five months now) with no issues whatsoever. You may want to try contacting Recon customer support...

I also have Recon's Xtreme tailgate light bar installed. I have been through multiple tailgate bars since last December when I installed my first one. First one died (my fault).. ordered second one, it died within two weeks of install (internal chip (?) deemed defective.. was sent a third, it was deemed defective (had a black mass sealed inside the tube).. was sent a fourth and all has been dandy since. It is a wonderful product.. I was simply not on my game when I installed the first one and I was unfortunate to receive two defective bars.. BUT Recon is on their game when it comes to customer service! Never any hitches in contacting them or receiving timely replacements.

I also have their Big Rig running light kit installed (in operation for about three months now). Not a single issue. Just another superb product from a very stellar company all around.

I would highly suggest contacting Recon about your cab lights and see what they can do to help. They are easy to talk to.. just tell them the low down and they'll be frank with you in return. I've never gotten the runaround from them.. always straight forward. Don't let one product hiccup cause you to turn away.. at the very least, give the company the chance to fix your problem for you.

I, too, was skeptical at first, but their superior cust service led me to give them another chance after my tailgate light bar incident (after my first replacement died after two weeks).. and even after that ordeal (all the bars I went through) which strung out over the course of three months.. I STILL purchased their cab light kit and their Big Rig kit. Mainly because their products are of superior quality and if you happen to get a defective one, they are quick to work with you (unlike a few other companies I have dealt with). And I couldn't be happier with my Recon products!

Much of luck to you!

Thanks Kaiote, I was looking on their website and the warranty is 90 days for any product requiring 12 volts and mine are right at a year old. I was expecting to get a longer life out of LEDs. Anyway, I'm thinking about getting some oem cab lights and tinting them and putting LEDs in them. I'm wanting to get the big rig lights also, but want to see some more reviews.

I looked it up, it's been exactly 1yr since I got them. The first one went out about six months ago with another to follow shortly. The third one started flickering Monday so I know it's on it's way out too. Been reading about the wiring in the light being a bit crappy so I'm gonna get out the soldering iron and see what I can do.

I decided to take apart the recon light and gut it so I could put a bulb in it. Here are the pics to show how it came out. I used a license plate bulb for testing purposes.

Wow that's really bright. Would look cool to have them all like that. Not sure it would be legal though.

I paid a shop to do mine. They had a sale going where the recon lights and install was only 300 bucks. Thought that was pretty good since dealerships wanted 250-300 just to install.
I also like that I have someone to blame and go after if they start leaking.

Yea, it looks good in the pic but in person you can definitely see the bulb because the whole light is not diffused only the front part. I contacted recon and sent them pictures of the rubber gasket I came up with and the guy, mike, said he would send it on to the design team. I'm planning to replace them with another set using my rubber gasket instead of the foam one.

I installed them myself, got the measurements off my buddy's 2012 3500. I thought I was gonna pass out when I drilled the first hole!!

Here's some pics of the gasket:

I purchased my Recon kit off eBay and had my dealership's body shop do the install for me. When all was said and done, the project cost me $268.86.
$79.86 for the kit
$189 for the install (@ $46/hr plus tax)
I chose to have the body shop do it for a number of reasons. The top most being I just couldn't bring myself to drill into the roof and I wanted a warranty for the work.
