Default Changed Plugs, what a job!!

Changed my plugs to the stock NGK-LZFR5C-11 from Rock Auto for $3.53 each, not a bad price but what a pain in the xxx to install!!
Took me about 2 1/2 hours. Started on the Drivers side front and worked back. Kept the coils off for more room to work. The last one #7 was a ball breaker. Thought that was the hardest till I got to #8 on the passenger side!!
The Computer Harness and heater hoses go right over the coil.
Had to unplug the harness and undo the clamps holding the hoses so I could move them enough to get at the coil.

Thought my F150 was tough. But I'm good for another 32k miles.
The only tougher plugs I've changed was on a 68 Shelby GT500 in the olden days. Had to change them from under the car or remove one engine mount at a time and lift it just enough to get at them, no lift of course.

Dodge Dealer quoted me $380 bucks so it was well worth it.
Oh well, good for another 32K

PS. Anyone who is going to do this, I recommend you get a magnetic socket 5/8" and several different length extensions and a swivel to get some finger traction.

Noticed it is idling much smoother.

Anyone notice when the computer is first reset, (off the battery for a while) the truck has more balls? I stomped on it and it roasted the tires. Normally it won't even with the trac control off. Something to be said for what the computer lets you do!!

I'm about ready to do mine, I have an old 5/8's with a swivel that I used on a 1970 Couger that had a 351C. That was misery but at least at ground level!

you are right about the magnetic swivel socket, that thing is awesome.

my dealer wanted $700 to do it.. f*** off. I did it myself, first time ever changing plugs..and did it in 2 hours with a break in the middle for lunch. which i thought was fast and easy for me.

For the drivers side, it's easiest to remove the front wheel and plastic wheel well lining to get to the one by the break booster. (i'm pretty sure this is the case for the 4th gens as well as the 3rd gens).

You are right about the passenger side back one tho..that one took the longest, but wasn't too bad.

Roo, I'd recommend the magnetic socket in 5/8". The rubber style may work but because of the depth of the plugs, you don't want the plug to drop out of the socket when your pulling them out or putting it in.
Just a recommendation that was passed on to me and it worked great.
Got it at Auto Zone for 5 Bucks.
Miss the old cars!! Can't afford a nice one!
