Default aftermarket exhaust question

Hi I just purchased a brand new 2013 ram 1500 a few weeks ago and have been looking at putting an exhaust system on it. If i do, will it affect my warranty? Its already got a lift kit in it, i heard that those affect the warranty too.

Check with your dealer first. "Just" a muffler should not void the warranty, but your dealer may use it as an excuse to not do any warranty work on it.

the only way it can effect the warrenty is if something goes wrong and they can prove it was the add on that caused the issue. But I do agree ask the dealer. Also see what they can do for aftermarket exhaust. When I took my jeep on for a recall I heard the service dep offer to put a flowmaster on a ram...but all dealers are different

Your lift kit already screwed your warranty so don't worry about a simple muffler swap.

It doesn't necessarily void your warranty unless they can prove that the modifications you made caused the problem and even if they did, they couldn't void your entire warranty, just the warranty portion related to the modifications you did. For example, a suspension mod isn't going to void your interior finish warranty as the two are entirely unrelated.

RRJ gives you the best advice.

Check with your dealership prior to any modifications. They are very powerful in the warranty dept. and can void, or let slide, what they choose to.

Build a rapport with them over time and you'll be amazed what you can get away with. I'm living proof over the years.

Welcome to the boards.
