to the best of my knowledge stainless steel doesnt really corrode i mean it will just like almost any metal but the stainless properties take a long time to finally start corroding so id imagine wrapping them would be fine for the amount of time i plan on keeping the truck.

at this point here is my concern. i was pretty gungho on getting the shortie headers but now with only getting 9hp and then increasing the temps under the hood which would prob just defeat the 9hp gained im guessing its not even worth it.

has any one with shorties seen positive results from them?

You'd be surprised how fast stainless can corrode with moisture being trapped and high heat.
JBA and BBK offer ceramic coated shorties

Well I say get some JBA shorties and be happy. You don't sound like you are going to Supercharge your truck/dyno it so the dyno butt will be happy. I just repaired my exhaust manifold bolts and let me tell you... the stock headers stink.

So just get JBA ceramic coated and be happy I would say.

Beyond long vs short, you should pay attention to which headers have made the same length individual tubes within the headers. This keeps the reflective waves in sync. Common for cheaper brands to change dimensions to clear engine bay obstacles.

I got the BBK ceramic coated shorties for 340 delivered. They went on easy and pull strong over 3000. Nothing really on the lower end. Thats why I got 4.10s and a torque converter is next. I figured for the cost of long tubes, I would get the shorties and a torque converter instead.

I say it all about how much you want to spend I went through 4 different headers and i mean i still fixing the truck but the American racing headers are sick. 1 7/8 they are pricey and they come with cats . Once i figure out this power steering issue i will tell you if I still have a cel. I had a cell with my OBX JBA and another brand.
