Default Molded mudflaps...

So i have the factory plastic moulded mud flaps. I really want some better rubber ones since whenever i go on a gravel road it is throwing rocks like crazy and my truck is full of rock chips now. I went to take them off but now they have worn off all the paint underneath, and i am worried about them rusting. But anyway, Can i just slip bigger rubber ones over top and leave the moulded ones underneath?
Thanks

These are known to rub and sand down your paint, I pulled mine off before it got ugly, Installed fender flares and got myself a set of Weather tech ones that don't rub. The flares cover the area that was sanded.

I wanted the factory mud-flaps when I first bought my truck. But, after reading the posts on here, (like Asur's above) I decided against them. Even the factory spats collect dirt & sand. I routinely remove them to "cake" wax on the underside periodically.
