I said smooth only because that's what I have on mine. I do however like the look of the pocket if it fits the truck. So it really depends on the look you are after. I wanted to keep mine sporty.

I actually like both and each has their own place.
I would have liked to go with the smooth ones, however I wanted more coverage on my tires and went with the pockets. I also went with the 2500 pockets for 1/2" additional coverage over the 1500 ones.
Plus I preferred the 2500 over the 1500 ones in either smooth or pocket.

Either way, both look good and both depends on tire width and your personal preference.

I prefer a combination of both.... The perfect flare to me would be one that has the size of pocket flares with a smooth look and no exposed fasteners.
