The Cummins straight-six diesel is still planned for future Rams; power was boosted to 800 lb-ft of torque. The eight-speed automatic once said to be slated for this engine is a while off, if it's still in the cards at all, given the Cummins’ torque, which exceeds the eight-speed’s design parameters.

VM powers Chrysler/Jeep in Europe. A Fiat diesel is being tested for US certification in Wrangler, and a VM diesel is definitely going into North American Grand Cherokees and Rams — starting in Grand Cherokee, despite the later model year — coupled with the eight speed automatic as we predicted two years in advance. Some believe the VM diesel will end up in Wranglers as well, the main question being “when” — before or after the redesign.

There is no way that could happen.. Cummins and rams go together like milk with cookies or bacon with anything.

And on the topic of Ford.. The F650 comes with the option of a 6.8L ford gas or a 6.7L cummins with an allision tranny and Ford rear end. All in all, other then it looking really stupid and just draws way to much attention for wrong reasons.. It is the perfect set up.

Does VM supply Mercedes with a v-6 turbo diesel?

Everything I have read on the ram 1500 diesel says it comes with the v-6 turbo diesel used in Mercedes and will have the 8speed auto.

I agree right there...just the wrong body and emblem on the vehicle. I would love to put a allison tarnny in my truck...unstopable.

If chevy had the oppurtunity to grab cummins they would for that their diesel trucks would be the best out there, aside from still being a GM haha.

I cant see dodge getting rid of cummins though in there 2500+ trucks. putting this one from fiat in the smaller vehicles, I can see that. That is what Mercedes benz did right witht he Grand Cherokee for one year no?

I agree, I cant see them ditching Cummins anytime soon....However I heard the new Titans maybe using a 5.0 Cummins V8 that was supposed to go to Ram but they chose the EcoDiesel instead.

Interesting to see how that works out for Nissan

I love rumors I tell ya! Just raises a whole lot of stink! But just to add to all the Cummins rumors, it has been rumored that Cummins has been in talks with Toyota as well as securing the deal with Nissan.
