if my 2013 ram came equipped with 3.55's, would installing a 3.92 gear void the factory lifetime warranty? (I would be using OEM gears from the dealer)

Likely not, brush up on the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act. Chrysler would have to prove that any modification you made to your truck contributed to the fault.

Okay here is my question to the forum members that have this discovery. My window sticker clearly has 3.55 under the Sport package and also has 3.21 under the 8 speed. Both are printed on the sticker. What I am guessing happened is 3.55 gears were out and they put 3.21 gears in or the order system defaulted to 3.21 while the truck was going down the assembly line. I have no facts to support this but seems logical. My truck has been awesome no complaints but I do wonder later down the road when I decide to trade what the impact is on resale. I do see where 3.55 would be better, and obvilusly I truly believe thats what was suppose to be there but somehow there was an assembly glitch. anyway who has both axles printed on the window sticker and how have you handled it with Chrysler?

For those of you who have not driven an 8 speed yet, the difference between the 3.21 and 3.55 would be imperceptible. You would not be able to tell the difference.

I wouldn't want 3.21 gears in a truck. I ordered and received 3.92 gears with no spin in my Hemi with 8 speed

So the 6-speed with the 3.92's is ok, but the 8-speed with the 3.21's is not....

First gear in the 8-speed is 4.7:1

How much gear do you need????

There is a serious lack of understanding on gear multiplication going on here.

No I think the point is being missed. If it is no big deal then why not swap all the 3.21's for 3.55's. If someone ordered a truck and specified 3.55 and paid for 3.55 that's what they should receive. If someone walked on a car lot and the dealership says by way of the window sticker that it has 3.55 then that's what should be there.

Just because it has an 8 speed should not mean that automatically 3.55 becomes 3.21. Again if its no big deal and there is no difference then why not just put 3.55 in as ordered or printed from the factory. I am just saying something is off and I believe that in the manufacturing process as the truck went down the line the computers that say what goes in the truck picked the wrong axle or Chrysler ran out and said screw it put 3.21's in and worry about it later rather than hold up production. My thoughts any way.

There has to be some difference or they would not offer it. I just hate to be lied to when the truth is easier to deal with. Just saying.......

Yes you should get what you're promised, but y'all need to realize that the final drive ratio on an 8 speed ram with 3.21 diff in 1st gear is 15.12:1. With a 4.10 and the 6 speed tranny its 12.3:1. I think a lot of the hate for the 3.21s is fed by those with the 6 speed where the 3.92 diff made a big difference, but the bottom line is that if a 6 speed truck with 3.92s was good enough for you, an 8 speed with 3.21s will actually be an improvement. Now you do get an 18.46:1 1st gear final drive ratio with an 8 speed and 3.92s, but the point of the post is to demonstrate the adequacy of the 3.21 with the 8 speed.

Oh, there is no misunderstanding of gear multiplication on my part. I can do math as good as the next guy. I have 10,000 miles on my truck and love the acceleration with 3.92 gears and the 8 speed. No way I could be happy with 3.21 gears in my truck. I drove one and it was a dog compared to my truck. The 6 speed 3.55 gear trucks can't compare either. I ordered my truck the way I wanted it. If I were to order again, I would order 3.92 gears again. And I wouldn't accept the truck if it wasn't exactly as I ordered.

Without straying too far off topic, how could an 8speed with 3:21's be an improvement over a 6 speed with 3:92's? Granted the 8 speed splits the power up more on the way up shifting, but you are still ending up with a taller final drive gear. You can't pull the same weight with the 3:21's........ unless I'm not understanding something.
