Unhappy Attack of the Killer Pole?

Not to long ago I had a pole attack my truck out of nowhere. Here is the damage done by that killer pole. How much do you all think it should cost to repair. Macco quoted me $500, everyone else so far have been $700-$1000.

Damm poles, they really need to find a better way to keep them locked up. Seriously, sorry for your troubles and good luck with the repairs. One word of advice, cheaper doesn't always mean better (rarely does in fact).

That's why I haven't had Macco do it. The other are saying that have to move the bed back and remove the bumper. They want to repaint the whole bedside and clear coat it. I guess silver is harder to blend, than other colors.

Standard process is to repaint the entire panel after dealing bumping out the dent. You are right that cheaper isn't better. Go with a good body shop that can provide references. Looks like $700-$1000 is about right for a quality job.

If they pull the bumper & pull the bolts out of the bed, that is maybe 10 to 12 bolts & some thing like 6 electrical connectors

I think MAACO would open your tailgate, take out the tail light assembly, break out the Stud Welder, Hammer & Dollies, then lots of body filler & throw some paint in the general direction of the body filler & hope for a good blend.

If the bed is lifted off, think hard about a new Fuel Pump, they can go haywire around 75,000 miles & the easiest way to change them out is by lifting the bed

Default *Update*

My truck is new again. It only took over two years. Got really lucky and had a forklift drop some plastic pallets near my truck and a couple of them bounced into my truck close to the original damage. Since there was previous damage I had to pay a $250 deductible for the repairs but I am not complaining it is better than $700+. Take a look.

Sometimes Lady Luck smiles on us

Your truck is looking good again

A olive tree attacked my '09, i had to buy a new tailgate & rear bumper skin & get them painted, the body shop was not a fancy place, a shed really with a state of the art paint booth
