I am excited at the potential for increased MPG if i can see a gain as it sits (open filter in engine bay). this weekend i will fab an airbox and see if i net any gains throughout the week week.
......Just filled up, my average was just over a 1 MPG increase over stock.

I had the same assumption, but this guy tells me that the heat is actually forced out the bottom of the car. the link below is from a turbo BMW that he did. his product reduced the under-hood temps 560 degrees!

Where did you buy that pipeing, tb opening is 3" 1/4 i couldt find that size of a pipe. Trying to butt them up to each other so it would flow smoothly. Didnt want to have a lip in side of the pipe if i would use 3 1/2".

So the question is is the pipe the same size as the tb? If so were can i buy it?

That setup looks great and if I didn't know any better (which I actually don't ) I would have thought it was a kit you got in a box.

there is actually like a spacer ring around the throttle body to accept the 3.5 opening of the piping.

you are right, it is a kit from a Chevy that I hacked up and added pieces to make it work. I thought i mentioned this in my earlier posts. not tryin to deceive anyone here. if you look closely at the pics you can see where I cut of the original mounting brackets that didn't apply to my application. everything used to build this intake was purchased at the auto parts store. they sell 90's, 45's, straight pieces and the flexible pieces to assemble anything you want. i just found it cheaper to buy this chevy kit and adapt it.

Newest update: went on a short camping trip with the family about 3 hrs away from home. got 22 MPG with highway driving only. I was also loaded down with a 4 wheeler and camping equipment. I was impressed. At this point, I have added the heat tape and fabricated an airbox that allows air from the fender well only. the airbox is also covered in the heat tape but I painted it black cause i couldn't stand how it looked. I will be tracking my MPG starting tomorrow.
