Default What would I need to run 38x15.5x20 on a 6" lift

Hello,

I need some advice. I would like to run 38x15.50x20 tires and 20x12 wheels on an 05 1500 QC 4x4...

My initial plan was a full 6" suspension lift + 3" body but I know just how wide those tires are and I would need to do some trimming right? How could I avoid all the trimming? I also don't want a whole lot of offset. I think what I can get with the 20x12s is -44 and thats the right amount of tire I want sticking out under the fender. My next consideration were the 37x13.50x20s but I do like the look of the 38s better. Help!

Thanks,

Carson

I have an '06 with a 6'' BDS lift. I am running 37x12.5 Nitto Trail Grapplers on 17x9 XD Addicts. The truck shop that did the install recommended 35''s, BDS said 37''s will fit. Naturally I went with the 37''s. At full lock, with the front suspension compressed, I have minor rub. For example pulling into a raised driveway with enough speed to compress the suspension and the wheel hard over. Other then that I have no issues with rub. My friend has 38x15.5 Baja Claws on his F350 with an 8'' lift and when I park next to it, I know I would definitely to go higher on the lift and do some trim work.

I don't think you're going to fit a 12" wide rim with only 6" of lift let alone a 15.5" wide tire. You will need the 3" body lift no question to even think about that set up. But even at that it's going to be a tight squeeze. I would much sooner recommend going with a 20x10 rim with a 38x13.5. Especially on a 1500.... The weight of a 20x12 and 38x15.5 will bog down your hemi so much you'll think you're barely moving. Plus it's 10 times harder on CV shafts and front end parts.
