Default Driver door won't open.

I'm new in this forum, but i feel it's a great tool for anyone needing support especially those of us who (think we can) do it ourselves.
I have a 2005 dodge ram quad cab and as many of the door problems here wouldn't open from the outside. I removed the latch and tried to bypass the power lock actuator. Now that i put it back together and went to try it, the door won't open from the inside or outside? Has anyone ever had to deal with this before i cut the latch?

Don't cut the latch. It' would be easier to get the upper part of the door panel off than cut the latch. I would say your latch mechanism is on the fritz, but you should be able to take the panel off enough to see it and open it manually.

All my Dodges have had driver door probs over the years. I even had one like yours that I finally just bought a pad lock gate latch and screwed it on the outside. I got tired of having to hold the door closed while I was doing 80 down the freeway.

I had the same type of issue with my door. The driver door would not open from the outside but I could open it from the inside. The lock actuator died on me. I searched the internet for weeks trying to find the lowest price but all I could find was 75.00 on eBay.

So I got creative and scoured the junk yard. If you're handy this is a good 6.00 fix. (At least thats what my local "U-Pull It" charged me. I couldnt find any Rams in the yard but there were tons of minivans. I pulled a lock actuator from an 03 Chrysler town and country and it looked very similar. When I got it home I had to modify two pieces and it fit perfectly.

Theres an arm with a weight on it on the town and country actuator that the ram didnt have so I got the dremmel out and cut off the weight. The only other thing you have to do is move a spring from the rams actuator to the new one, on the same arm you just modified, and it fits perfectly. I saved over 70 bucks (after shipping) and it took me less than 20 min to fix.

I wish I would have taken pictures but trust me its very very easy and straight forward once you get the parts in front of you.

I think Ill find some pics and see if I can dig up my old actuator and make a how-to... Hopefully it will save some people a ton of money.

Well, I think the trash went out so I couldnt find my old actuator to take pics. I did however write a How To and took pics from online, I think its pretty easy to follow. The whole process is very straight forward.
