Default A true story

Two British traffic patrol officers from North Berwick, east of Edinburgh (Scotland) were involved in an unusual incident whilst doing a speed check on the A1 Great North Rd.
One of the officers (who was not named) whilst using a hand held radar device to check the speed of the oncoming vehicles was surprised when he recorded a speed of over 300 mph. the "gun" then stopped working and the officer was unable to rest it.

The radar had in fact locked onto a tornado jet fighter engaged in low level flying exercise. Back at Police HQ the chief fired off a stiff complaint to the RAF liaison officer.

Back came this reply:
Sir thank you for your letter regarding this which allows us to complete the file on this incident, you maybe interested to know that the tactical computer in the tornado had automatically locked onto your "hostile" radar equipment and sent a "jamming" signal back to it, furthermore the sidewinder air-to-ground missile aboard the fully armed aircraft had also locked onto the target, (radar device) fortunately the pilot of the tornado responded to the missile status alert and was able to override the automatic system before the missile was launched......

That's funny. Another fact: Out here on the eastern tip of LI in the early 80's, they would test F-14 Tomcats built at the Grumman plant in Calverton. I have talked with many retired police officers who said when the jets were testing overhead, their radar devices were as good as useless.

RedSmart, you think you're unlucky getting a speeding ticket?? I was in our local garage this morning picking up my daily coffee and debating whether to have another sip before I left ( mistake of the day not having that sip) I pulled out of the garage when I noticed in my rear view mirror a unmarked traffic car, now having had stint as a traffic cop myself for three years and most of the guy's knowing me and my truck I didn't really take that much interest, that was until he followed me around the roundabout then onto the left turn only to light me up.

I thought he was going have a chat about some work stuff or general chit chat, wrong! he was going for the tint on my windows, (this was already on when I brought the truck) I told him they where fine but out came the tintman that measure's light between the tint, it should show 70% mine came back as 25%, ooops! that would have been a prohibition notice on the truck but I got a "get it sorted", so spent the rest of the day peeling off tint and trying to get all the sticky stuff that holds it on off the window........if only i'd had that extra slurp of coffee..

I had a vehicle that had really bad bubbled tint at one time and had to spend forever peeling it off. The only thing I found to take the glue off was gasoline. What'd you use?

I have to imagine that your truck sticks out like a sore thumb in the UK?

I've driven many of roads over there, and with the exception of the M's most of the A's and B's are pretty small. How the heck do you manage?? LOL.....

As for taking the tint off, ya that would suck! Are you going to talk to the people that you bought it from, or not bother at all?

Damn, I feel for you, Chris. That seems a bit stringent. See why we had those wars in 1776 & 1812? The colonists knew there should be dark-tinted windows on Ram trucks!
