Just found out about chrome clad wheels. I'm disappointed but I guess I'm glad I didn't order winter wheels and tires. I'm just going to order winter tires in 20"and order 20" summer rims with the stock tires.
I had my chrome clads replaced under warranty. I took my wheels off and had the dealer change out the rims so the new ones have not even been on the truck, 2 of the replacement rims have the same issues as the old ones. When I was cleaning them up in preparation for Opti-coat I noticed rough spots that were pulling threads out of my microfiber cloth so I called the dealer and they need to see them. The dealer said chevy is having the same problem and the answer for replacement is the same: 1 SET OF WHEELS under warranty so there is no warranty on the replacement wheels.Have appointment for the dealer to look at rims on Friday so i guess we will see what happens.
I didn't know until I brought it home but I'm ok with chrome clad. They are still aluminum rims underneath, it's not like they are cheap ass steelies or something. Big rigs run a lot of chrome plastic wheel covers because they are easier to clean and maintain.
I didn't know and was shocked until I test drove a 2011 Sport and decided to take a moment and inspect the rims. I don't have a problem with them. Although I ended up getting a 2010 Quad cab SLT with the 17 inch wheels, which I hate. But of course I will replace those.
